Ratcrawl Potjiekos Competition – Official Rules
Entry Information:
• Entry fee per stall: R200
• Maximum of 6 participants per stall
• Clubs may enter more than one stall
• All clubs are welcome to participate
Rule 1: Stall Registration
Stalls can be registered before the event or on 28 March between 06:00 and 08:00.
Rule 2: Ingredients & Equipment
• All ingredients for the pot must be purchased by two runners from the stall, who will complete the crawl.
• All utensils, chairs, tables, and eating equipment may be brought along.
• Runners will depart on a predetermined route between 09:00 and 11:00.
Rule 3: Required Dishes
Each stall must serve three dishes:
1. The main potjie
2. A side dish (e.g., rice, pot bread, sweet potatoes)
3. A dessert or additional side
Rule 4: Judging
• Judging will take place from 16:00
• Prize-giving will be at 18:00
• Judges’ decisions are final
Judging Criteria
1. Quality and taste of the potjie
2. Presentation and serving of the food
3. Stall setup and appearance
4. Participants’ attire
Rule 5: Receipts & Sales
• All receipts for purchased ingredients must be shown to the judges, along with the markers from the marshals.
• Stalls may sell food to the public at approximately R50 per plate to recover costs.
